Mossberg vs Pogue

Take this one with a big can of Kosher Salt, but a semi-trusted source just hit us up on AIM to say that, “two of White Nerdy America’s most beloved men are gonna fight!”  Rumor has it that Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal and David Pogue of the New York Times are in negotiations to stage a pay per view fight with the winner to be named, “Nerdiest Rich White Guy Who’s Slightly Behind the Curve”

Mossberg, who’s known as “Uncle Walt” and writes WSJ’s “Personal Technology” column, and Pogue, who writes and makes goofy videos about tech for the NYT, are said to have agreed in principal to the bout but aren’t yet seeing eye to eye regarding the format of the fight.  “Walt wants to go Rock em Sock em Robots,” our source said.  “He’s 62 and grew up on analog, so he’s probably pretty good with these things and also is less likely to die in the ring this way.  But Dave’s only in his 40’s and wants to throwdown MMA-style.  Apparently he’s not much of a fighter, but my sources tell me he, quote, Hates that Mossburger guy’s guts, and wants to, quote, Send his ass back to the Dos Age.”

Another source - one who’s unfamiliar to us, it should be noted - also told us of the fight rumor and claims that the whole thing started when Mossberg and Pogue called Apple CEO Steve Jobs simultaneously a few months ago.  “Jobs took Pogue’s call,” the source told us, “and that really teed Uncle Walt off.  It’s been like Tyson-Holyfield ever since, even though their boring tech coverage would lead you to believe neither is capable of biting a guy’s ear off.”
